You don’t want to miss Goddess of Arno Balkan Band’s 27th Annual Fall Balkan Dance Party THIS Saturday, December 13th from 7-9pm! It will take place at Nahalat Shalom, 3606 Rio Grande Blvd. NW, ABQ, NM. Suggested donation of $20 per person at the door - no one turned away for lack of funds! The band will be set up “village style” - playing acoustically in a circle in the middle of the room and dancers around them. High Dezert Klezmer & Judaic Band presents: "Lotsa Light! Havdalah, Hanuka Concert & Dance Party!"

High Dezert Klezmer & Judaic Band presents: “Lotsa Light! Havdalah, Hanuka Concert & Dance Party!” Immediately following the beautiful Havdalah ceremony which will be accompanied by many instruments, the concert will include instrumental Jewish music from around the world as well as Hanukkah songs and folk songs in Yiddish, Ladino (Judeo-Espanyol) & Hebrew. The concert will segue into a Klezmer dance party.

Recording and performing professionally throughout the southwest since 1996, High Dezert Klezmer & Judaic Band (f.k.a. The Rebbe’s Orkestra) has been exploring the ways in which Jewish musicians have interacted with surrounding musical traditions over the centuries. From Spain to Iraq, Poland to the Mediterranean: High Dezert Klezmer Band plays tunes and songs as widely divergent as the geography and yet with surprisingly similar themes.‍ ‍

The members of High Dezert Klezmer Band are:
Beth Cohen-violin/mandolin/ tenor banjo/Macedonian Tambura/ penny whistle/lead vocals;
Barbara Friedman-electric bass/Macedonian tambura/vocals;
Randy Edmunds-guitar/ Macedonian tambura/vocals;
Debo Orlofsky-accordion/vocals;
Mary Masuk-percussion: doumbek, riqq, frame drum, daide, Turkish wooden spoons, pojk, snare drum & cymbal.
