Albuquerque's only festival devoted to the Spanish Jewish presence in New Mexico. Festival VIII will spotlight the amazing Santero and Retablo artist Dr. Charles Carillo, who will be creating work especially for the festival, as well as speaking on his extensive research into historical Jewish references in Retablos. Nahalat Shalom's beloved cantor Beth Cohen will give a concert of Sephardic music. Plus: a staged dramatic reading in Spanish of the poetry of the exiled 17th century Spanish Jewish poet Jao Pinto Delgado directed by Salomé Martinez Lutz, AJ Goldman on Jewish Indiginaity, a Process Writing segment, personal stories, food, Rabbi Jordi Gendra-Molina leading Sephardic Shabbat Dinner and Saturday morning Sephardic Services, and more!
