Reasons for its existence

Fosters the joy of reading books by and about Jews

(especially on Jewish Renewal and Reconstructionist Judaism)

Provides activities and events in our building

            Brings people into the synagogue

about half of them already processed

Plans

            Finish processing the books

Expand into the additional space approved by the Va’ad,

                September 6, 2006

Acquire shelving with the help of our members and friends

through donations of funds, wood and hardware, carpentry

Budget for new books ($1,500 would add about 70 books)

            Library programs and events:

                        Author talks (one already promised)

                        Jewish book reading group

Book talks by librarian and other volunteers

            Provide incentives for gift giving by preparing a list of titles wanted;

donors can then designate choices and present them in honor

               or in memory of someone

Schedule regular hours when the library is open and staffed

            Investigate grant possibilities
