Klezmerquerque 2007 home

  

Klezmerquerque 2007 Schedule of Events: 

Friday, February 16th, 6:30-10:00pm:

6:30pm: The festival opens with a danced Freylekhe Shabbes “service”

to the music of Alavados, Nahalat Shalom’s 5-piece in-house band.

Dances will be led by Nahalat Shalom’s Rikud Yiddish dance troupe.

7:00pm: Vegetarian potluck dinner.

8:00pm: Performance by klezmer dance-master Steve Weintraub,

concert by flutist Adrianne Greenbaum and The Rebbe’s Orkestra.

 

8:45pm: The music and dance continues with The Nahalat Shalom

Community Klezmer band and open dancing led by Steve Weintraub and Rikud.

 

The cost for Friday evening’s event is a $10 suggested donation

(under 18-free or donation).

 Saturday, February 17th Events:

 9:30-10:45amYiddish dance class with Steve Weintraub

($18-adults, $10- seniors/fixed income/under 18).

 

11:00am-12:15pm:  Klezmer music class with Adrianne Greenbaum

($18-adults,$10-fixed income/under 18).

 12:30-1:45pmLunch ‘n Stories - Milkhe kosher lunch with renowned storyteller Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb.

Come listen to A Classic Yiddish Tale and A Feminist Hasidic Story about SHTRAYMLS-yes, the tall fur hats that religious people wear. Join Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb for a dynamic reading of I.L. Peretz's story: Shtraymil (written in 1894), and Pearl Gluck's Shtreimel Envy (written in 2005) -- spell it shtraymil or shtreimel, you still swallow your tongue when you say it!  The art of storytelling is alive and well in these two tales connected by Yiddishkeit wit…--and a big hat!     ($5-$10 donation)

 $80 for 2 concerts/parties, 1 lunch ‘n lecture, & 4 classes paid by or before Friday eve Feb. 16th.

($60 for seniors/fixed income/under 18)

Individual classes and events can also be paid for at time of class/event.

Other discounts/work-study for students, seniors, and fixed/low income – inquire with event coordinator.
