Adult Education

We offer several adult education classes and study groups that meet weekly, as well as special events such as retreats.  Our Adult Education offerings expand and evolve as there is interest and as teachers come forward.  Check the calendar (links under Upcoming on the left) to be sure the class or group is meeting this week or for time changes.

Beyond the Torah:  Meets in the main building on Fridays from 11:45am-1pm.  This group has been delving into the entire Bible, book by book.   Join in to  discern the literal, ethical and spiritual meaning of the great writings of our ancestors.  This self-led group relies on assorted commentary as well as personal sensibilities.  No ongoing commitment is required.  Join in every week or as the spirit moves you.  See why participants love Torah Study by clicking here.

Prayerbook Hebrew:  Begin to understand the language of prayer.  If you're an adult who wants to read the prayerbook and Torah, and you already know the alef-bet and can sound out words, this class will build your skills and increase your fluency.  The class, which meets most Tuesday afternoons at a home near Nahalat Shalom, is using Prayerbook Hebrew, The Easy Way as the text, and is also studying our siddur.  Taught by Min Kantrowitz.  We would welcome new students.

ShefaGoldEnchanted Circle:  Join our Enchanted Circle to lift up the divine sparks through sacred Hebrew chanting with Rabbi Shefa Gold.  Everyone is welcome.  The Enchanted Circle meets monthly in the Bayt B'racha, on usually Wed evenings from 7:30-9pm.  Supported by your donations to Rabbi Gold; suggested donation $10.

MilesKrassenPlanetary Judaism: Bringing Down the Torah of the Future: This ongoing series of talks by  Rabbi Miles Krassen, updating the teachings of Hassidism and Kabbalah, explores ways in which Torah can support an emerging vision of planetary consciousness. The Torah of the Future is the Torah of the Whole Earth that reveals the inherent holiness and essential interconnectedness of all people and of the Earth itself and all that she contains. “The Whole Earth is full of Your Glory.” (Isaiah 6:3).

Rabbi Krassen is a former Professor of Contemplative Judaism at Naropa University and is the author of significant works on Kabbalah and Hassidism.  Your generous donations will pay for these classes. Checks may be made out directly to Rabbi Miles Krassen.  Please check the calendar for scheduled classes (see links under Upcoming on left), which usually meet on first and third Sunday afternoons at 4pm in Bayt B'racha.   Visit his website
