JEWISH MUSLIM INTERFAITH PRAYER WALK FOR PEACE
The Islamic Center of Albuquerque and Congregation Nahalat Shalom invite people of all faiths to participate in a historic peace pilgrimage between a synagogue and mosque Saturday morning April 13th at 7AM-Noon.
As people of faith, we give witness to our belief that peace between Israel and Palestine is possible.
As people of faith, we mourn the tragic loss of innocent life, especially the children.
We call for an end to violence and the speedy establishment of a free and secure Palestinian state along side a free and secure Israeli state. We support the voices on all sides who remain committed to honoring the dignity and security of both peoples.
In this time of despair, we choose hope.
As people of faith, we remain committed to a future based on mutual recognition. An enduring security for Israel in inextricably linked to a secure and viable Palestine that, at long last, realizes the dream of freedom. As people of faith, may we put our trust in God’s desire for love and justice as the true pathway to peace. May this walk unite us in our efforts.
Logistics: The route will proceed along Rio Grande to Central,
east on Central to Yale, south on Yale to the mosque. We will stop about every mile for a prayer circle and a brief break. We will have car support.
BRING SMALL FINGER FOOD TO SHARE AT THE END. BRING WATER.
THE WALK IS 6.6 MILES-about 2 1/2 miles an hour. We will begin and end with prayers for peace and unity. We will provide small signs and carry a banner that reads: Salam Shalom.
We need a few more volunteer cars (3-4)
(This is the first peace walk between a synagogue and mosque that I am aware of! Help us make history and a statement about a shared future based on hope. Yours in peace, Lynn. Special thanks to Abdul Rauf Campos Marquetti whose passion for peace caused him to make this event possible)
