More participation needed for Desert Sage
From the editor …
I would like to offer a sincere thank you to all the individuals who have shared their writings or artwork for this and recent issues. Without their efforts, there would be a whole lot of empty space and not nearly as interesting a journal as we have been able to produce.
To anyone else out there who has story ideas, artwork, photography, poetry or any other type of creative contribution, don’t be shy; send it along. Desert Sage has the potential to be a beautiful tapestry of our community’s artistry, with each person adding his or her own color and design.
The upcoming months are brimming with great happenings - concerts, conferences, classes, the klezmer festival, unique women’s gatherings and people of different faiths and backgrounds joining forces to affect change and promote peace. If there are upcoming events that you are interested in writing about, go for it. Don’t wait for an invitation; the opportunity is always there. Likewise with movies or books of Jewish content that you would enjoy reviewing. Those would be wonderful additions to this publication. And if you are approached to write something for Desert Sage, please don’t ignore the call! I know that everyone’s lives are busy these days, and it is hard to find time to do a little something extra, but consider the time spent as a cultural investment in your community.
The columns that regularly appear here -- Ru’ach Ha’am, Tikkun Olam, Shirat Ha’am, Hiddur Mitzvah -are open to everyone. You don’t need to be a religious expert, professional writer or even Jewish to pen an occasional column; you just need a little inspiration and access to a computer. If you would like to write something but aren’t sure of what, drop me a line at NatanaMoon@aol.com, or call me at 242-5492 and we’ll figure something out. Hope to hear from you soon.
