Fall Classes at Nahalat Shalom

Jewish-Muslim Dialogue: Jews and Muslims committed to knowing each other through the process of dialogue and mutual respect will come together to explore their common ground. Each participant will go through an interview process to ensure commitment to the principles of dialogue, which include the use of respectful language, compassionate listening, and honoring each other’s experiences. (With Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb and Abdul Rauf Campos Mayquetti.) OCT. 3, 10, 17, 24.

Family Tune-up Using the Vision of Spiritual Eldering: offered by Elizabeth C. Etigson and Sandy Giles, for men and women exploring aging and spirituality. Topics: introduction to Spiritual Eldering concepts, repairing relationships, elders as healers and mentors, facing our mortality. Fee is $36. OCT. 7, 14, 21, 28.

Beginning and review Hebrew with Rabbi Lynn. Bring notebook, enthusiasm and pencil. Will teach you how to read and some mystical interpretations of the letters.
OCT. 6, 13, 20, 27

Teen Group/Class/Happening: Israeli potter Noam Zimmer, Nataniel and Rabbi Lynn will join teens ages 13-18 for exciting projects and study. Our first project is building a Bedouin Tent. We will also be making dijery dos, studying Jewish perspectives on driving, tattoos, sex, abortion, capital punishment, and other hot topics, taking trips and meeting Jewish youth from around the city and state. OCT. 13.

Toledano Tradition of Kabbalah: Taught by Steve Russell, the class will include an historical overview of Kabbalah and the Spanish or Toledano Tradition beginning at the Garden of Eden through our existence today. OCT. 7, 14, 21, 28.
